Overview

MSE is a metals recycling business focused on the recovery of valuable magnesium, aluminium and iron composite metal waste sourced from the automotive sector. There is a long-term positive trend towards the use of magnesium in the automotive sector, due to it being relatively light weight in comparison to other engineering materials.

In 2007, STAR invested in MSE to develop the plant using an established separation process technology in a novel construction. The foundation of the business was based on a 5 year contract with BMW, recycling material from their engine production. This contract was subsequently extended.

MSE was sold in December 2013.
